Why isn't the iLap taller for better viewing?
iLap is not only designed for desk use only but also catered for lap use as well. Thus tilting the iLap higher would be too uncomfortable on the wrists when used on the lap.
Why isn't the iLap perforated (with holes) for better cooling?
Perforations are required for surfaces that don't conduct heat well, like plastic (which is a heat insulator).
The iLap's all aluminium thermal conductivity is 13 times more than stainless steel, and thus the more surface that it has in contact with the notebook, the more heat that it draws away (in the same conceptual way that heat sink works on the CPU).
The front cushion is detachable, but is the back cushion removable?
The back cushion is not detachable. The front cushion is detachable for switching between lap work and desk work, but the back cushion should remain for either use.
Do I need a separate keyboard and mouse?
No, the iLap allows you the convenience of working with your laptop keyboard and track pad.

Does the iLap come with a warranty?
Rain Design provides a one (1) year warranty against manufacturer's defect and workmanship. Should there be any defect, Rain Design, Inc. would either repair or replace the product at its sole discretion.
The warranty does not apply to damages caused by accident, abuse, misuse, misapplication, wear and tear, or acts of God. Rain Design, Inc. is not responsible for direct, special, incidental or consequential damages.

What does the number beside the iLap (e.g. iLap 15"W) mean?
The iLap is named similiarly to the notebooks by referencing it after the screen size.
Thus iLap 15"W is designed for a 15" widescreen laptop. It does not mean that the width of the iLap is 15".
